Club : Outil utilisé pour frapper la balle. Il existe différents types de clubs : bois, fers, wedges, putters.

Drive : Coup de départ effectué avec un club appelé driver, souvent pour les longs parcours.

Fairway : Partie du parcours entre le départ et le green, où l’herbe est taillée plus courte pour faciliter le jeu.

Green : Zone autour du trou où l’herbe est très courte et où le joueur utilise généralement un putter pour terminer le trou.

Handicap : Système qui permet de niveler les compétences des joueurs de différents niveaux en ajustant leur score.

Par : Nombre standard de coups qu’un joueur devrait idéalement effectuer pour terminer un trou ou un parcours.

Putter : Club utilisé pour effectuer des coups roulés sur le green.

Rough : Zone autour du fairway où l’herbe est plus haute et où il est plus difficile de jouer.

Slice : Coup où la balle part dans une direction latérale non voulue (droite pour un droitier).

Swing : Mouvement complet du joueur lorsqu’il frappe la balle.

Tee : Petit support utilisé pour poser la balle au départ d’un trou.

Trou en un : Lorsque le joueur met la balle dans le trou en un seul coup depuis le départ.

Wedge : Type de club utilisé pour les coups courts et pour sortir de bunkers ou du rough.

Bunker : Obstacle rempli de sable, situé souvent près des greens ou le long des fairways.

Eagle : Terminer un trou avec deux coups de moins que le par.

Hook : Coup où la balle prend une courbe prononcée vers la gauche pour un droitier (ou vers la droite pour un gaucher).

Driver : Le club utilisé pour les coups les plus longs, notamment au départ d’un trou.

Mulligan : Coup supplémentaire autorisé lors de certaines parties amicales, sans pénalité, pour corriger une mauvaise frappe.

Green fee : Prix à payer pour accéder au parcours de golf.

Pitch : Coup court et haut, souvent joué pour approcher le green.

Chip : Petit coup d’approche à ras du sol joué depuis près du green.

Stroke play : Type de compétition où le score est déterminé par le nombre total de coups sur l’ensemble du parcours.

Match play : Forme de compétition où les joueurs s’affrontent trou par trou, celui qui remporte le plus de trous gagne la partie.

Obstacles d’eau : Plans d’eau qui font partie du parcours et dans lesquels il est interdit de jouer la balle.
